University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only university-based cancer center in South Florida and is home to over 250 physicians and scientists who specialize in one type of cancer allowing them to provide excellent care and treatments to each patient. Sylvester operates around their mission to reduce the human burden from cancer and other serious illnesses. They have also created a network of outpatient treatment facilities to provide care to their patients at the utmost convenience. Dr. Izidore Lossos, the Principal Investigator for the LEO consortium at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a Professor of Medicine and is internationally recognized as a lymphoma clinical investigator. He focuses his research on understanding the mechanisms of lymphoma pathogenesis, identifying aberrant signaling pathways and novel genes that may have a distinct contribution to lymphoma prognosis, and the development of models that can help to identifying patients who will respond to standard and novel treatments.
